I close my eyes and I start rummaging through the memory lane of Nature Pure places I have been fortunate to enjoy along the trips made so far. One million images going through my head at full speed, mix with each other seamlessly, with flashes. Suddenly I think suck a clean, fresh air and hear how far the water hits the rocks and a group of elephants emit a loud trumpeting bouncing inside my ears. I get lost in the sensations that this wonderful Earth has provided me. There is no city, no rush and everything follows its natural course. The images seen fleetingly before now have before so clear. Natural belong to the five places I have been more excited in my life.
Five Treasures of Nature that were there long before us, which remain untouched but which in turn expect the man not put hands on them. All part of a list that is and will be imperfect but has more lives than a cat, because there are so many wonders natuales nor immortality would be worth as collateral to witness them all. But here goes an attempt to collect mine.
With this ranking continued a series that began by chance and that seems to come to stay (In fact I created as a category where you can consult existing and future). A TOP 5 of corners at all unchanged because the "preferred" brewing as will be traveling. Before addressing them I can only say that choosing these places is an extremely difficult task, but it is wet and at least try. Here then the five jewels of nature that I could not ignore in any way:
Tanjung Puting National Park (Kalimantan / Borneo - Indonesia)
And access this southern corner of this great island of Borneo called suggestive name is an adventure. Through a riverboat, there is known as klotok, we went to Sekonyer against River until the water became a perfect mirror of the thickness of which still seem to be impenetrable forests. It is home to many animals and plants, an explosion of life that is evident by the second species. But his best known hosts an orange hair comb and walk to support his large hands on the floor. And it Tanjung Puting is one of the few places where they still dwell released orangutans (Orang - utan is in Malay was "man of the forest").
Walking through the muddy, once we left the klotok, took us to observe a number of animal species (and others like the friendly proboscis monkeys) playing jumping from branch to branch, which fell to the ground with a piece of fruit and sometimes watched us as we need them, while perched between two trees with their long limbs stretching or not cost them at all.
The thrill of spending several hours with orangutans in such a remote place like this, to sleep under the stars listening to the beautiful symphony of the jungle and surf on that mirror called Sekonyer are more than enough reasons for including Tanjung Puting into my favorites the natural world. Nature lovers wild can be found here a real paradise. And live magical moments in very large company like this:
All our adventure in southern Borneo can read it (and see it through the pictures and scores of videos) in the SPECIAL CHAPTER ON OUR EXPERIENCE IN BORNEO TOGETHER orangutans , one of my most enjoyable to do.
THE NORWEGIAN FJORD (west coast of Norway)
I could say unequivocally that so far the Norwegian fjords seemed to me the most outstanding as far as nature is concerned within Europe. These languages sea that affected kilometers inland to go to meet hoary glaciers have left us truly dream landscapes. Ravines and mountains give way to these marine slits are endless throughout the Norwegian west coast, and covering hundreds and hundreds of kilometers to fall in place that does not see the sun each summer bed.
I have been fortunate to enjoy the fjords twice, the first time aboard the legendary Hurtigruten reaching Honningsvag, just steps from the North Cape, the northernmost place in Europe as part of the first interrail I did with my colleagues neighborhood and will meet soon ten years. For several days we sailed along paths of water with rock walls left and right, land invaded by the landform that is unmatched in our continent.
The second time was deepened in a fjord from the heights of Preikestolen (the pulpit) , where I could feel the vertigo six hundred meters from Lysefjorden in a rock that looks like it could break at any moment and let go into the void, or rather, the cool, blue waters that walk alongside the lovely city of Stavanger . That was the culmination of one of my big goals because this place seems to be the invention of a suicidal madman, but once you are up there you can take the force of nature in a vast and beautiful country such as Norway. Where I hope to return sooner rather than later ...
Unquestionably the Norwegian fjords could not miss in this ranking.
Corcovado National Park (OSA PENINSULA - COSTA RICA)
The Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica , and therefore the Corcovado National Park , which grows inside, have a small space in the 3% biodiversity of the entire planet. In the southwest Pacific side of Costa Rica it gives it that National Geographic say without doubt "the most intense place on Earth, biologically speaking." Because few places have so many species of vegetation, many mammals, many birds, and sharing different habitats. Its away from the tourist areas of the country, within walking distance of Panama, is also conducive situation so that it is highly protected and are not many travelers who visit. Therein is another story, the wildest corner of Costa Rica, and probably in Central America, are only the dictates of the puma, jaguar or tapir you can reach here be seen as anywhere else.
To access this natural park, we had to climb 3 kilometers durantre Playa Madrigal, where we did not see a single person. From the Puerta La Leona we started a network of trails and paths that went deep into the forest, on the beach or both. Giant trees as ceiba (which in Africa baobabs), bats sleeping on the tree trunks, peccaries and coatis foraging in family and the intrigue of walking without knowing what you are getting, if a cougar prowls ... there is synonymous with adventure in nature.
I like to hear the word "Remote". Corcovado, no doubt it is, and just feel absolute solitude in one of its beaches or see a basilisk to jump down to the waters of a stream. The sound of the Park is overwhelming, never stops, and deceives you think there will be deeper, if it is true that the history of German tourist who walked away from established trails and lost a long time went by there at the mercy of all "wild inhabitants".
The journey on foot Sirena River, in the heart of Corcovado, offering the opportunity that nature put you ahead all its splendor and exuberance. A tropical landscape rocked by the waters of the Pacific Ocean extends its green carpet for the traveler to walk around it and appreciate this corner so energetic, so full of life. And fortunately, so lonely, hard to see today.
Grand Canyon (Arizona - United States)
The first time I looked in one of the edges of the Grand Canyon from the South Rim of the legendary Park Arizona ( USA ), I could not help but shed some tears. It may be one of the most amazing and exciting views with which I have found in life, despite the multiple images and films that I had previously been to the Grand Canyon without leaving home. It is one of the most recognizable icons for all Nature, and therefore not disappointed at all when you have the chance to be in it. On the contrary, respect for weighs over four kilometers in the Colorado River orange spider land on which resound drums and feathers flying the last Indians of the Far West.
We arrived at the Grand Canyon South rim on a white convertible from Las Vegas on a trip almost straight through the deserted roads extending in the State of Arizona. And we spent two days touring those balconies that shade and color green heart of the Far West, John Wayne and covering us thinking ourselves the cold wind that nourishes those bare mountains when the sun decides to hide.
I think there is little or very little I can, if you want, closer to the courage of the erosion that has left to the world the best of the masterpieces of Nature. Simply wonderful, unique. We will go and see for yourself ...
Okavango Delta and near (NORTHWESTERN BOTSWANA)
The name of the Okavango Delta brings us to those hot afternoons in front of a documentary lions implementing a hunting plan studied, with the seal of National Geographic on the edge of your TV screen. At an early age I saw an impossible that my feet will stand on one of the most genuinely wild regions of the globe, but a raid South Africa made it possible in the summer of 2009. The Okavango Delta is a delta like any other, since it has the peculiarity that the river ends not flowing into the sea or a big lake. The waters of the Okavango River from Angola wetlands expanded in the arid Kalahari Desert, fertility nurturing the northwestern tip of an amazing country called Botswana. There wildlife rushes to the rhythm of a herd of elephants, hippos yawn or distant roar of a hungry lion. The best part is you do not need TV to view ...
The two best ways to delve into this water palm kilometer Botswana is therefore the water and from the air. And that's what we did.
AVISTAR the Okavango Delta BY PLANE
The tiny airport runways Maun were the springboard to enjoy extraordinary views of wetlands shining from the sky and reveal large herds of mammals. Only hear the engines of our plane I feel breathless ...
Although I say that are the colors of the earth, the normal course of nature wild, which can leave anyone speechless. You're probably talking about the most beautiful landscapes from the air you'll ever see.
The Okavango Delta is fully explained from above. The water scattered in a large river that refuses to die at sea but on land, leaving a carpet of water and pasture inhabited by lions, zebras, elephants, hippos and all kinds of animals in this habitat have to survive.
MOKORO SURCAR IN WATER Okavango Delta
The other way to discover the delta is aboard a narrow canoes called mokoros that glide through its waters with the strength of the guides using poles with which to drive and steer the fragile craft. Although there and yes you are at the mercy of whatever comes, call hippopotamus or crocodile. The stillness of the water is only broken by them, because the rest is silence. Only silence ...
The delta is so immense that in two or three hours've only covered a small portion of wildlife. Hopefully, you've plumbed the comings and goings of a herd of elephants guard down and not taking you felt for several kilometers. That's when you realize you are not in a zoo but home to thousands of animals living in freedom unrelated to any human presence.
PARKS TO NURTURE THE DELTA
And the best part is that around the delta are born nature reserves and parks as the Moremi or Chobe where, this time from a 4 × 4, the fauna of Africa, Big Five and all those who accompany them, can be seen or not to form part of the documentary one of the trips of your life. You're still at the expense of what Nature wants to show (it always does) and the wand of Fortune's your turn for that day you witness a unique spectacle. Things are evil not to see a display of forces more and more wild animals that inhabit pockets like this.
Those days moving around the great Okavango Delta I remember as a dream. I can assure you that for me to see everything that has been one of the greatest satisfactions in all the trips I've made so far. And I know he is still waiting for our return ...
Now your turn
This has been my more or less lucky and born through all lived in ten years of travel. I know I could forget some places that deserve to be here again, and probably in a few years can give a twist to these corners of the world Still I tried to select. Still I hope you have enjoyed these and if you have not been, you may know as ever I could do.
But what about yours ?, What are your 5 places Nature that I have left a mark? I would love it as well as you did with the monuments of the planet months ago, do we have fellowship with those sites that you have overcome, in the good sense of the word.
It has been a pleasure to remember. That you spend a good week!
