The popular saying in the blacksmith knife stick can also be extrapolated to travel, or rather, the stories we tell of our travels. We spent much of our free time between airports, train stations or traveling kilometers by road, even if we had to choose where we stay most weekends a year is undoubtedly Alicante.
The town where we live for more than a decade has become the stop and inn where replenish forces do and undo suitcases, took the kids to school and also where our office is located. Alicante has become our home , where we decided to put down roots. Why? Mainly because we live very, very well. The weather is great, it is located in a wonderful setting and is a perfect size for our taste.
Here we have our customs and favorite corners, but as the chances are painted eagles, recently had the chance to feel tourists in our own city. The reason? The hotel chain Ibis is celebrating its 40th anniversary and to celebrate invited us to spend the weekend in Ibis Alicante . Want to know what we did? Here are a few plans for a weekend getaway to Alicante.
The beaches of Alicante
It is one of the main reasons that thousands of tourists visit each year the city of Alicante. The Mediterranean through the city painting blue coasts and six really amazing beaches. For us personally we like is the beach of San Juan, but also the tranquility of the beach Saladar, located near Urbanova. To walk without getting wet or walk on the sand I prefer the boardwalk next to the beach Postiguet.
Up to the Castle of Santa Barbara in Alicante
This is a trip that the kids love. The fortresses and walls always give to invent a good story about knights and pirates. To us the ascent to the Castle of Santa Barbara seems to us a great place to Alicante from the top spot and get an idea of the beautiful city that is the plan. The views from this enclave of Mount Benacantil are magnificent and in the castle always seems to be some interesting exhibition ... we saw a couple of Star Wars or Playmobil in recent years.
A stroll through the Old Town
We are rather surprised that these streets and Cuestecitas are almost always empty of tourists, because they have a special charm. People often walk along the famous Esplanade, but a few meters have a very scenic route. Colorful facades, low houses, narrow streets, wrought iron railings and tiles that adorn a route that is required to miss up to the hermitage of Santa Cruz. In addition, the itinerary is full of viewpoints and very photogenic corners. Outside this route, essential Plaza Gabriel Miró.
An afternoon at the museum
The Alicante we usually complain that the city is not up to other capital cultural level, but the fact is that there is a very interesting range of museums usually visit once in a while, especially when it rains. The MARQ to discover the past, MUBAG very close to the town hall with an extraordinary collection of paintings, the MACA in the Old Quarter for lovers of contemporary art or the Fish facing the marina are our favorites. Also spectacular is the Cultural Center The Cigar , to see if they provide it with a program according to their abilities.
Eat the best rice in the world
One plan in Alicante you can not miss is to enjoy a good rice. At Alicante bravuconamente we like to say we cook the best rice in the world and the truth is that we have not tried the same in any part of the globe. There are many restaurants that cook a wonderful time, but our favorites are perhaps the Piripi (very close to the Avenida Maisonnave and commercial area of the city) and Varadero corner in the fishing port. We usually try many restaurants and not always ask us rice, so we accepted most recommendations.
Bonfires of San Juan
Lol this plan has trap because you can only enjoy 20 to June 24, although it is a good time to visit Alicante if you want to live their most important holidays. To us personally we like to take advantage of these holidays to travel days (because we have already spent many years), but we think it is a very colorful, noisy and enjoyable holiday. The city is full of monuments of papier-mâché and popular barracks where the Alicante and tourists have fun at virtually 24 hours a day. You can not lose "them mascletaes" in the Plaza de Luceros.
The Ibis Alicante
The truth is that we have stayed in many Ibis in Spain and the world because they have an unbeatable value. You have all the amenities you may be required to a hotel but fantastic prices. The Ibis Alicante is located 5 minutes from the airport of El Altet and Saladar beach, in fact you can see the sea from the rooms. It has free parking and Wi-Fi in all rooms and facilities, plus a comfortable beds. It's about ten minutes from the city center by car and every 30 minutes a bus passes in front of its door that brings you closer to the busiest part of Alicante
